About

The classic "look to the side" shot.

Thanks for joining me on my adventures! My name is Carla Dibbs and I'm a graphic designer, photographer, compulsive instagrammer (hence my two accounts, @carlitadibbs, @carladibbs), a food lover, dreamer and a lover of my creator, Jesus. (Oh and I have the travel bug)

I'm from Sydney Australia and apart from missing my family, friends and my bed, I'm probably going to miss the beach the most, and let's be honest, gelato messina.

So what will I be doing over the seas and far away? Who knows really. But I have been accepted to do YWAM (Youth With A Mission) in Paris which will be for 6 months (3 months in Paris and 3 months in Southeast Asia) and then I will be making the most of my time in Europe by visiting neighboring cities with my sister and hopefully my friend Jack.

It all started back in 2004 when my family decided to travel the world. We visited Paris for 5 days and it captured my heart as an 11 year old. I knew I would go back someday.

Skipping to the year 2012, I was having some quiet time with Jesus in my bedroom late at night and I wrote this in my Journal (I only just found this entry):

"God, I know you grant us the desires of our hearts so I would like to share with you an idea that I have for my future. I would like to live overseas (maybe 2014?), I'm thinking Paris and when I'm there I would like to learn the language and do some mission work. If this is your plan for me, lead me and guide me towards this."

In 2013, I got interested in doing a YWAM course and spent hours researching courses to do (when I should have been doing my major project for my degree) and realised that there were general YWAM DTS' and ones that were more specific such as evangelism, worship etc. I immediately typed in "Design", then "Photography but nothing seemed to grab my attention. I then decided to broaden my search so I entered "Art" and voila!. Art, Culture and Food in PARIS. My mind started dreaming of the possibilities and my heart started doing a crazy dance.
It didn't work out that year as I finished my degree and my family and I went adventuring in the United States of America but that was not the end!

I came back from my trip to the States feeling refreshed and ready to get into life as a graduate and adult with responsibilities of finding a job. I ended up scoring a 2 month internship with an amazing creative studio dedicated to social change and justice. When 2 months came to a close, I was blessed with the opportunity to stay on a 6 month contract and upon hearing this news, immediately I thought "next year is the time to do the course in Paris!".
The end of the year was just around the corner and it was time for me to apply. I told my bosses about my possible plans trying not to be too emotional because I really loved working there and in a way it fueled my desire to do this mission (I struggled but managed to keep the tears in which was an achievement hahah)

It took 2 weeks for YWAM Paris to get back to me saying that I had been accepted into the school and then things got REAL. So now, I am off to Paris in January to adventure with Jesus and I have so much to think about, pack and do before I go! Life is getting crazy. It's all because of a God who listens and grants us the desires of hearts for His glory. Forever thankful.

I will be taking my Canon 7D and my new Tamron 17-50 2.8 Lens and my trustie Iphone 5 to document my travels which I will hopefully be committed to posting on here.
