Here is the last instalment of my 7 week trip to the states. The ever windy Highway 1, The Bay Area and the home of the rich and the famous, Los Angeles.
Dreams came true when I saw McWay falls, only one of two waterfalls that fall directly into the ocean. Unfortunately, earlier in the year, one of the bridges on the highway collapsed and so we were forced to go inland as the road still had closures. It was slightly disappointing, but for me, I was so grateful that I was finally able to see this stunning location. We decided to visit twice for extra measure. From there we continued south till we reached the city of San Fran. It was my second time visiting this city and I loved it just as much as the first time. We ran down a trail to a nudist beach called Marshall's to experience an amazing sunset close to the Golden Gate Bridge, had the classic In-and-out Burger, stayed on the headlands in an old hospital, drank a Michelada (spicy mexican beer) on a rooftop bar called Techo (means roof in spanish haha) and got worried as we took out car up the deadly steep hills.
Our final destination was LA. Colourful murals, palm trees, tacos and the sea. We stayed in Venice Beach which made it easy to experience rich sunsets and the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk. On our last night we got closer to the stars at Griffith Observatory. Here we got one last look at the glimmer of city lights as well as being transported into one of those dreamy scenes in La La Land.
It was fairly surreal coming to the end of our roadtrip. We ended it feeling free, alive and amazed at how everything had went. We had one major problem with our insurance-less rental car, but God was so good to us. He definitely had our backs. I've been back home in Australia for a week now and looking back at these images it seems hard to comprehend that I saw all these beautiful places. Viewing them now leaves me feeling completely and utterly thankful for the opportunity to see the world. I love it so dearly.
